Citizenship by investment
The fastest route to an EU passport is to go through Cypriot Citizenship-by-Investment Program. The applicants under this program must actively invest in the Cyprus economy by investing in either real estate, local business and companies, financial assets in Cypriot businesses or organisations; or any combination of these investments, provided that the total investment amounts to at least €2 million.
In the application can be included the main applicant, his/her spouse and unmarried dependents aged 27 and under. The main applicant’s parents can also be added for an additional investment of € 500,000.
Citizenship by years of residency
The individual can apply for a citizenship based on years of residency. A third country national should have complete 7 years of legal residence in Cyprus. This period is reduced to 5 years for parents or children of a Cypriot citizen
Citizenship through marriage
The application for obtaining Cypriot citizenship can be submitted by foreign spouse of Cypriot citizen, who have completed at least 3 years of marriage and 2 years of residence in Cyprus prior to the date of application.
Citizenship by Cypriot origin and birth
A person can obtain a citizenship through Cypriot origin. It can be submitted by either minors or adults, who were born abroad after the 16th of August 1960 and whose father at the time of birth was a Cypriot citizen; or by individuals born after the 11th of June 1999, whose mother was a Cypriot citizen at the time of their birth.
Applications for the acquisition of Cypriot citizenship are submitted at the Civil Registry and Migration Department, the District Administration Offices and the diplomatic missions of the Republic (embassies and consulates). Subsequently, all the applications are processed by the Citizenship Section of the Civil Registry and Migration Department. The documents required for the application of Cypriot citizenship will depend on the applicant’s personal situation.

Please note, that residence permits are not required for EU citizens who wish to move and stay in Cyprus, however, they will be required to register their presence with the local authorities.
Non-EU nationals wishing to reside or work in Cyprus must apply to the Civil Registry and Migration Department for a Temporary Employment and Residence Permit or Immigration Permits. The application should be accompanied by the appropriate documents, depending on the category of for which it is submitted. Applications for category F which are the most usual should be accompanied by the original documents regarding the income of the applicant.
